If you want the full immersion you'd ideally be around for the entire programme of events, but not everyone has 11 days to spend on their car obsession! However, even if you've only got a couple of days, the different sections are extremely well laid out so if you make a plan you can get around to everything you want to see.
The Geneva International Motor Show
This is one of the most anticipated motor shows in the world and is attended by representatives from all the major manufacturers. Shuttle Direct operates a fixed Geneva airport taxi service that can meet you at the airport and transport you directly the short distance to the venue or via your accommodation to check-in and drop off your luggage.
The revealing of the 2017 McLaren 570GT: well, we knew it was coming but, oh, be still my heart! This super car Automotive Metal Part was the most luxurious I've seen. It's a dazzling showcase of engineering, technology, innovation and, in fact, everything auto related you could imagine – including the announcement of the European Car of the Year.
you've got an interest in cars and the inclination to spend a few days in one of the most beautiful cities in Europe, the Geneva International Motor Show could be your next mini-break! As a Geneva airport taxi driver, I'm lucky enough to have attended a number of these shows over the past few years, and each time it just seems to get better and better. The show is extremely popular with visiting international motoring enthusiasts, so the best hotels close to the venue fill up pretty quickly. Opening hours are from 10am to 8pm on Monday to Friday and 9am to 7pm on Saturday and Sunday. Not that it's ever going to be in my budget, but I can dream.
See you there!
Seeing the hydrogen Pininfarina H2 Speed Supercar. Does anyone do supercars better than the Italians? Well, that's a matter of debate, but this one pushed all my buttons with its sleek, sexy body – not to mention its two (yes two) motors being powered by a hydrogen fuel cell. This year is its 87th edition and by all accounts it will continue the tradition. I'll probably never feel its top speed of 186mph with the wind whipping through what's left of my hair, but you just never know…
Details
The show runs from the 9th to the 19th March at the Geneva
Palexpo convention centre. Don’t get caught on the hop – if you don't want to be
stuck in a four-walled box miles from the city, book early!
How to Get There
Whether you're flying in just for the Motor Show for
a day or combining the trip with a few days' holiday, take the stress out of
getting there by pre-booking a private Geneva airport taxi before you leave
home.
The Early Bird Gets the Best Accommodation
If you're planning on
staying a few days to check out the show in-depth, you really need to get in
early to book accommodation.
